Shivani Patel

Meet Shivani! An upcoming junior majoring in Bio and Mechanical Engineering. This past semester she took on the intriguing and daring leadership role of being a TA for Engineering 100! Here is Shivani herself talking about the experience she had:
"Being a Teaching Assistant for Engineering 100 has not only given me the chance to work with incoming engineering students, it has also helped me improve my teaching abilities as well as my public speaking skills.  In the lab session I go over the over the design process, a fundamental idea that every engineering student should know in their first year.  Over the course of the semester, the students will get to know one another and eventually get into groups to design and build a product for a specific task.  My job as a TA is to help guide these groups throughout the project and to make sure that they are on task with their work.  A major part about the class that I like to emphasize is teamwork. I feel it's important to teach the students about teamwork because it's used so much in the world of engineering.  I'm happy that I was able to acquire a TA position for the class and I hope to continue for as long as I can!"
